At the beginning of the 20th century, Diaghilev came with his company of dancers in Paris. The success of the Ballets Russes is tremendous, and an ongoing series of astonishing productions is shown before a public deeply impressed. The innovation is to be found as well in the music than in the choreography, and reach a summit in 1913 with the famous first performance of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring, a revolutionary landmark in the history of music.
