The Sea (2 pianos 4 hands + song)
The sea has always been inspirational for painters as well as for musicians, with its infinite horizons and its ever changing light according to the weather or the hour of the day.
This program devoted to the North Sea contains two masterworks by two composers from each side of the Channel: The Sea by Frank Bridge in opposition to La Mer by Debussy. In addition, two other English masters are present in the program: Britten with the Sea Interludes from his opera Peter Grimes and Elgar with his Sea Pictures, which are sensitive sea impressions sung by a mezzo-soprano.
Frank Bridge, The Sea
Benjamin Britten, Four Sea Interludes from ‘Peter Grimes’
Edward Elgar, Sea Pictures op.37
Claude Debussy, La Mer
